Micaela Petrucci fell in love with the unique mystique of working at an agency.
Softball star cuts her teeth on radio promotion
At Northville High School, Micaela Petrucci was a varsity softball player in her sophomore year, nailing any batter headed for first base. But instead of pursuing an athletic route in college, she chose communications and eventually managed social media content for Spotlight Productions, an organization supporting campus activities at Grand Valley State University.
After graduating with a B.S. in Advertising, PR and Marketing, she took a social media internship at a Detroit-area marketing agency and got a taste of the agency life. She says she appreciates the number of avenues available, from campaign strategy to media management to public relations, and more.
To round out her expertise, Micaela put her campus-activity marketing experience to work at iHeartRadio, working on social-media promotions for Arts, Beats and Eats and other events supported by the five stations it represents in the Detroit market.
Micaela is Google Analytics certified and at SSDM she will support campaigns that include search and social components. She works on blog copy, competitive data reports and learned about the power of programmatic advertising. She likes the fact that SSDM encourages its team members to speak up about what they like the most, directing their own career trajectory.
New learnings
Although she herself does not play any musical instruments, she is a huge fan, often traveling across the state or to other states to attend the concerts of her faves.
The youngest of three siblings, Micaela’s family owns one of the best Italian bakeries in metropolitan Detroit. When we’re all allowed to return to the office, we’re lobbying for some authentic cannolis made with fresh ricotta cheese.
