After five months of writing, coding and learning, my time at SS Digital Media is coming to a close. Coming in, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I certainly didn’t anticipate liking my internship this much. Here is what I’ve been up to this past semester.

What I Did

Day one was different for me. When I walked through the glass doors of SSDM that first time, I was sure that I would be bogged down in work that I was totally and completely unprepared for. Instead, I was greeted and taken for a little tour around the building. Not only was I eased into my first day, but the whole internship experience was very immersive, developing my writing and editing skills, teaching me to code for websites and preparing me for the future.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

Because this was my first writing job, I was worried about having a bad case of writer’s block at 9 a.m. and not getting over it until 5 p.m. It turns out, however, that blogs and landing pages are much more interesting to write for clients than to read about it in class. I loved having a job where I got to create content for real businesses.

A Part Of The Team

Another one of my favorite parts about my SSDM experience is the people. There’s a great crew working here. From team lunches to Google Partner events, to chocolate runs, there is certainly a balance between work and fun. I am extremely thankful to have had them there to guide me and answer all of my questions.

Moving Forward…

You can’t resist change and expect to move forward. As I write my last blog for SSDM, I am unsure of what’s next. I have just one more semester to finish up my public relations major and new media minor in December. I would love to say that I have a concrete post-graduation plan. The truth is, however, that after all of this, I am simply excited for new opportunities and I don’t want to rule anything out. As a result, my latest philosophy is to say “yes.”

Thank you, SS Digital Media, for saying yes to me.
